About Us

The principal of the school Denise Moore gained her teaching qualifications with British Theatre Dance Association and qualified as a BTDA examiner in 2016. Denise is also an experienced adjudicator.  Denise loves all genres of dance, but her passion is teaching tap.​

Our teaching team include Kelly, who has been part of the school for over 20 years, and loves to teach lyrical, modern, and contemporary. Julie, who has a passion for teaching ballet, and contemporary is a qualified teacher and examiner with BTDA.  Our Assistant teachers Rhaya and Melody have been with the school from the tender age of 3 and are now a valued part of our team.  

 

The school prides itself in producing a high standard of work in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.

 

Students are encouraged to develop at their own pace which helps to make them feel at ease and confident, learning a new skill whilst having lots of fun, and making lots of new friends.

 

We offer classes in:

*Tap   *Ballet   *Modern Jazz   *Acrobatics   *Commercial   *Lyrical  *Musical Theatre  *Contemporary  *Acrobatic Arts *Adult Classes 

 

We regularly hold examination sessions where students can gain accredited British Theatre Dance Association awards and qualifications. There are also competition classes for those students that have been invited to take part in solos, duets and trios at festivals in our local area.

 

TTSD achieves excellent results in both examination work and competition work. Many pupils have progressed on to Performing Arts Colleges, Theatre Schools or have qualified as teachers themselves with the British Theatre Dance Association.

Qualifications

 

The Principal of TTSD has over 30 years teaching experience and has gained teaching qualifications with The American Association of Dance and is a qualified registered member and examiner of The British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA).

 

Qualifications are obtained by being examined teaching both open classes and examination classes, demonstrating a well balanced class suitable for the age of the students, recognising and correcting technical faults and showing an understanding of anatomy. An understanding of legal requirements with regards to music, legislation and general well being of dancers is discussed during an interview.

 

The Principal of TTSD holds current certificates in the following; First Aid, Public Liability Insurance, PRS Licence and Enhanced Disclosure.
